Garlic, in many cases, is considered to be one of the most offensive of all vegetables. It has a strong odor and a strong taste. You either love it or hate it. I personally think it tastes great in any food. Garlic is found to be very beneficial and it’s super healthy.
Garlic comes from the onion family that includes onions, shallots, leek, and chives. It has a naturally spicy flavor that adds amazing flavor to any meal. Even though Garlic can be found around the world in many different countries, China is in the lead. It originated in a province in China.
Garlic plants are not attacked by pests. Hard neck garlic is grown in cooler climate where as soft neck garlic is grown in the warmer climates.  Garlic is a natural anti-inflammatory. Even though garlic has a lower concentration of nutrients in one serving compared to one serving on other vegetables it is still very beneficial to the body. Sulfur components in garlic are what make it a super-veggie. Sulfur is used in numerous medications such as antibiotics, blood pressure medications, and diuretics.
Aliin is the primary substance in garlic is the most beneficial compound. Allin kills bacteria and fungi, prevents the common cold, stops tumor growth, kills cancer cells, reduces inflammation, eliminates ulcers, keeps blood from clotting, balances cholesterols, improves blood flow to the lungs, reduces liver damage and is an antioxidant. Allicin is also responsible for the smell of garlic. As long as it has the garlic smell then it has allicin. It releases once the garlic is crushed or cut. Garlic is absorbed by the stomach and small intestine so if you take fresh garlic supplements you will still receive benefits once absorbed in the small intestine. 1-4 cloves of garlic daily will do the trick for most people.
Garlic does thin blood so be careful when taking garlic or supplements if you are taking blood thinning medication. Another side effect of garlic besides bad breathe is a mild condition called halitosis. It sounds a lot scarier than it is. It makes your body produce sweat in a very offensive manner. Your pores and sweat will reek the smell of garlic and it takes more than soap to get it off. I personally think it’s worth the temporary discomfort. All you need to do is hang with people that love garlic that way it will never bother them
